Event Management is the ingestion-and-correlation engine — it collects events from every monitoring tool, normalizes and de-duplicates them into alerts, binds them to the CMDB, and opens the incidents that need a human.
The Engine
Event Management collects events from many sources through connectors and listeners, then converts them into alerts that can be analyzed, grouped, and acted upon. Repeated events are de-duplicated into a single alert, and related alerts are grouped by common characteristics to reduce noise and speed root-cause analysis.
Each alert is automatically correlated with its configuration item in the CMDB, so it arrives already carrying service context. Alert rules then take over — auto-closing, attaching knowledge, and automatically creating the right record: an incident, a change request, or another task, routed to the team that owns it.
How It Works
Events arrive from every monitoring and assurance tool — pushed to Event Management's web service, or pulled from a source's API by a connector on a MID Server.
Repeated events collapse into a single alert; related alerts are grouped by shared characteristics, cutting the noise around a common cause.
Every alert is correlated to its configuration item in the CMDB, so it carries service context from the moment it is raised.
Rules auto-close alerts, attach knowledge articles, and automatically create incidents, change requests, and other tasks — no manual triage of the routine.
AIOps
Predictive AIOps models normal behavior and consolidates events from existing monitoring tools into a smaller number of meaningful alerts; Health Log Analytics applies unsupervised machine learning to log data to detect anomalies and surface issues before they become incidents.
